Special Education Leadership

Special education leadership is a specific kind of school leadership that focuses on the specific needs of special education students. There are various types of special education, but it basically refers to any kind of educational arrangement that helps students with disabilities access any kind of learning environment.

Special education leadership may be focused at different levels, including district-level and school-level, and they may be responsible for different areas depending on their level. For instance, a district-level leader is more likely to be concerned with matters like teacher training or compliance with state or federal regulations. School-level leaders are more likely to address issues relating to the day-to-day operations of a school’s special education program, such as scheduling and staffing.
