The Master in Early Childhood Special Education program is a fully online graduate degree with a focus on preparing students for careers in the field of early childhood education. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure as special education teachers.
This degree program is designed for students interested in working with children who have special needs and disabilities. The degree covers topics in early childhood development and disabilities, and because we understand that many of our students will be pursuing this degree as a means to further their career, we are also offering a specialization track in leadership and administration. This will help graduates take on leadership roles or start their own business in the field.
The curriculum has been carefully designed to offer theoretical study of early childhood developmental stages, as well as provide hands-on training through an internship. This program is open to all students with a bachelor’s degree, but those who have not taken any early childhood education classes may need to take some additional coursework before the start of the program. This requirement will be determined by the advisor after reviewing your transcripts.
The program is perfect for current early childhood professionals who want to advance their careers and take on leadership roles. This could include a teaching role outside of traditional classroom settings, such as at home or in a hospital. The curriculum will also prepare you to work in policy-making, advocacy, and research settings.
