Bible Verses for Special Needs Child

While the Bible doesn’t specifically mention “special needs children”, it does address all people as being created uniquely in God’s image and having an important purpose.

The Bible also gives us countless examples of how God cares for each person, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses. In addition to these examples, there are several verses that can be a comfort to those with special needs and their loved ones. Here are just a few:

Matthew 11:28 says: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” When we are burdened with the care of a special needs child, this verse reminds us that we can go to Jesus for help. He will give us rest through our trials!

Isaiah 41:10 says: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse is a promise that God will never leave us and will always be there for us when we need Him.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

Isaiah 40:28-31: “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
