- Mad Gab
Mad Gab is a great game for practicing listening skills. Before playing, you can teach your child some of the basic rules so that they know how the game works. The gameplay consists of teams trying to figure out phrases by reading them out loud, but in a way that sounds like it’s gibberish. For example, “Alter Atoll” is read as “All terrace all”. Once teams understand this concept, they can try to guess the phrase first. This reinforces listening skills because your child has to listen carefully to each word and think about how it could be pronounced differently than it is written.

Scattegories is another good game for practicing active listening skills because players have to listen carefully to the categories that are being announced and think about which words fit in those categories that start with a certain letter.
